  • Joint Forestry Team Meeting with Executives
    On July 28th, the four executives of the Joint Forestry Team (JFT) and other team members met at the United States Department of Agriculture. U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell, NRCS Chief Dave White, NACD President Gene Schmidt and NASF President Jeff Jahnke led the meeting.

    The JFT meeting included discussion on the 2010 Two Chiefs’ Partnership Awards, an update on Statewide Forest Resource Assessment and Strategies, the upcoming Farm Bill, recent RC&D’s decreased funding and the future of the JFT.

  • Two Chiefs' Award Winners Announced
    Recently, 2010 Two Chiefs' Award Winners were announced. Winners include: Cheri Ford, U.S. Forest Service, Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland; West Virginia Forest Stewardship Partnership; Alabama Natural Resource Council and the Collaborative Costal Whole Watershed Restoration: The Siuslaw Partnership. To learn more, click here.

  • Hawai'i Moving Forward to Conserve Forest Land

  • New Report Shows Effects of Farm Bill Forestry Programs
    The American Forest Foundation recently released the “2011 Forests in the Farm Bill Progress” report. This report examines the ways Farm Bill programs were used to improve forestland, and if they had a lasting impact on the conservation of land. To view report, click here

  • Agroforesty: The Potential Future of Farming
    USDA has released a strategic framework to explore and implement agroforestry. This concept is the blending of trees with agricultural pasture land.
